All or Nothing: The Cost of Discipleship
Sunday, 23 May 2010

Speaker Name:  Pastor Keith S Goodman   |  Luke 14:25-33
Series:  Discipleship
Description:
Jesus turned to the large crowds that were following Him and told them what it really means to be a disciple. The irony is in the fact that a disciple is, by definition, a "follower." The people were following Him, but they weren't really "following" Him. Jesus tells them (and us) that unless one is willing to give up everything, he cannot be Christ's disciple. Just because one is a part of the crowd does not mean that one is automatically a part of the core. Discipleship is serious business.

Us and Them
Saturday, 20 February 2010

Speaker Name:  Pastor Keith S Goodman   |  1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

Description:
I Thessalonians 5:1ff speaks of the day of the Lord. As sure as there is a God who came in the Person of Jesus Christ to save us, that same Jesus is coming again. His return is spoken of as "The Day of the Lord." The Day of the Lord will mean something different to the righteous and the wicked. Paul uses the pronouns "us" and "them" to distinguish what that "day" will be to the righteous and the wicked.

Thanking God for the Peaks and the Valleys

Saturday, 30 January 2010

Speaker Name:  Pastor Keith S. Goodman   |  Matthew 17:1-4
Series:  Yes, We Can!
Description:
When we are blessed with mountaintop experiences, like Peter we want to stay there, that is, on the mountaintop. Unfortunately, we often misunderstand that God's way of developing our characters is through valley experiences. Spencer Johnson wrote insightfully that "mountains are celebrating, but valleys are for learning." This earth is not our final destination. God is fashioning and fitting us for eternity. He often does that by leading us "through the valley."
